About Me

My photo
I love taking pictures! As I take them, it seems that somewhere in the back of my mind a story is being written. The resulting "photo stories" simply reflect my love of nature. I'll share some with you now that I am venturing into the world of blogging. Enjoy!

Snicker's Great Discovery

"Meow!  My name is Snickers."  "(Oh, by the way, 'Meow" means 'Hi' in my cat-ish language.) I live on Whistle Hill Farm with Nana Chuck.  She is always following me around with her camera and taking pictures of me.  (In all modesty I must admit I am rather cute!)  Well, one day after chasing frogs and dogs and butterflies and posing for Nana Chuck, I was tired and ready for a snooze in the warm sun.  Nana Chuck was in the house so I knew I could relax and not have to worry about putting my best whiskers forward.  I'm still a bit sleepy, so I've asked Nana Chuck to tell my story while I take a bit of a nap."

SNICKERS' GREAT DISCOVERY

Snickers was napping, soft grass was her bed,
            When...Kerthump!..something fell, just missing her head!
Startled, but sleepy she opened an eye,
To see what was it that dared to drop by.

"It might be a mouse!" She opened her eyes;
"It's playing dead, how silly, and not at all wise."

She quickly reached out with a big loud "Meow!"
And a "Ha Ha, Mouse, you'll not get away now!"

Snickers thrust out her very sharp claws
And grabbed the mouse with both her paws;
"Gotcha!" she growled, "You can't get away;
You'll make a tasty snack for me today!"

She took a big bite and...."Blahhhkkkkk!"
Out went her tongue and a cough of "Ghaaakkk!"
        "That's no mouse...Oh, no sireee;
    It's a piece of wood from the walnut tree!"

Snickers felt foolish for a little while,
But a good thought soon made her smile.
"It will be my toy!" she purred with a grin
"And no kitties will find it hiding under my chin."

Pushing it under brought a loud "Meow!"
"That feels like Nana scratches, Oh Wow!"
"It's a great discovery!" purred the proud kitty;
"I'm really quite smart...(and also quite pretty)."

She rubbed and rubbed on her piece of wood,
Thinking, "My Oh My, that feels so good!
When I'm through I'll hide it beneath a tree
It's my discovery and it's just for me!"

Feeling so comfortable and warm in the sun
She became very sleepy; playtime was done.
Her great discovery hidden in place,
Snickers fell asleep...a big smile on her face.
